RSS is a new Internet technology that allows you to subscribe to a website and be automatically notified when its content is changed.
It takes the hassle out of staying up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information you are interested in as soon as it is published.
Many major news services such as BBC News, Reuters, etc are embracing this technology.
RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'.
You will need a piece of software called a news reader or aggregator. There are several available from the Internet, many of them free of charge (see below of a list). Some mail clients already have RSS support included (e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird) and others such as Microsoft’s Outlook are expected to follow very soon.

If you see an orange button marked or then the site you are visiting has a RSS feed available.
The method of subscribing varies from one reader to the next, but usually you simply drag and drop the orange button from the web page into your reader and away you go!
